It is a trip that you have been waiting for all of your life. You and your friends are planning to spend a day, or a week in wine country enjoying all that the area has to offer. Before you embark on your Barossa winery tours, here are some helpful tips to make your time and tour more enjoyable for you and your travel companions.
Book a Tour
One of the best ways to assure that you have a great visit to a winery is by booking a group tour. Group tours allow you and all of your companions to travel safely in a hired vehicle. You never have to worry about getting lost because the driver knows the routes and the area, so you get to your destination without wasting time being lost or having the risk of a drunk driving charge or having an accident. It is worth noting that these tours are not really “party buses” so you will need to follow any rules and limitation that are put in place by the tour bus operator for the safety, security and good time of others on the tour.
Have a Meal First
It is never a good idea to drink wine or do wine tastings on an empty stomach. Plan to eat something that fills you up, even if it is a light breakfast or a salad with some bread beforehand. Having food in your stomach will slow down the absorption of alcohol in your system. This will slow down the effects of intoxication that are common when drinking wine and other alcoholic beverages. Some wineries offer light food offerings at their location, so if you feel yourself getting tipsy, you could indulge in a snack like cheese and crackers.
Bring Your Camera
A wine tasting tour is a great adventure for you and your friends. You will want to make sure that you have a camera or your camera enabled mobile phone with a charged battery to take lots of pictures. If your phone has Internet access, you can then upload your pictures to your favourite social media platform. If your phone has Multimedia Messaging enabled, you can also send your pictures via text message to your family and friends that were unable to come with you.
Wear Comfortable Clothes
Wine tours are all day events so you will want to be sure to wear clothes that are both stylish and comfortable. Since you will be walking or on your feet for a good portion of the day, you will want to wear shoes that fit well and do not cause you discomfort. You might also consider wearing layers, if it gets warm outside, you can take off your sweater or jacket. If it is cooler outside than what you like, you can put it back on.
All of these tips should prove helpful for your next visit to the historic and beautiful wine country of Barossa. Have fun and enjoy your trip!
